This past weekend, Denver’s Be On Key hosted a dual bill of RAQ+ and supergroup Fellowship of the Wing (featuring John Kadlecik, Jay Lane, Reed Mathis and Todd Stoops), and the two collectives ended up playing an uber-collaborative concert on Saturday night, which saw multiple full-band mashups.

Instead of playing separate two-hour sets as scheduled, RAQ+ played a set and then returned after a break with guest drummer (and former bandmate) Neil Evans of Dopapod, with Lane pretending to play along on a second drum set.

RAQ+ then brought on Jeff Franca of Thievery Corporation on drums, along with Kadlecik and Mathis, forming a full two-band collaboration of RAQ+ and the Fellowship (plus Franca). The collective then covered The Beatles’ “Come Together” before moving into The Who’s “Join Together” and eventually segueing into the Fellowship’s set, which also featured Franca.

The night later rounded out with a reprise of “Join Together” from the Fellowship, with the band welcoming Chris Michetti and Jay Burwick of RAQ+ for another double-band collaboration for the encore.
