At the Colorado Kind Festival in Lyons, Colo., The String Cheese Incident welcomed trumpeter-vocalist Jennifer Hartswick for several tunes on Saturday night.

After opening their two-set outing with “Can’t Wait Another Day,” the band dug deep on a “Missing Me”> “Rivertrance” jam, showcasing some great musical interplay between keyboardist Kyle Hollingsworth and multi-instrumentalist Michael Kang.

“How you doing out there?” Kang later asked the crowd before diving into their version of Michael Jackson’s “Black and White.” As the jam went on, SCI found their way into “Turn On Your Love Light” before closing with their own “Round The Wheel.”

The band kicked off their second half with “Believe,” and then an extended “Illegal”> “I know You Rider” segment that also included a segue in and out of “Stir It Up.” Hartswick jumped onstage for “Panama Red” as well as a “Grazing in the Grass” bustout (last time played: 10/15/04).

“We’re keeping Jen hostage,” Hollingsworth joked, as the trumpeter-vocalist stuck around for Talking Heads’ “Naive Melody” followed by SCI’s classic “Jellyfish” and a closing “Rollover.”

SCI and Hartswick included one last Michael Jackson tribute, encoring with The Jacksons’ “Shake You Body (Down To The Ground)”
