Paul Simon will release a new album of re-recorded versions of his own music, In The Blue Light, on September 7, and the legendary singer-songwriter has shared the first single from the effort, a reworking of “One Man’s Ceiling Is Another Man’s Floor.”

The original tune appeared on Simon’s 1973 record There Goes Rhymin’ Simon, and the newly recorded version is featured in Blue Light‘s collection of songs mined from Simon’s vast catalog.

“This album consists of songs that I thought were almost right, or were odd enough to be overlooked the first time around,” Simon says of the upcoming album. “Re-doing arrangements, harmonic structures, and lyrics that didn’t make their meaning clear, gave me time to clarify in my own head what I wanted to say, or realize what I was thinking and make it more easily understood.”
