In a surprise turn for the iconic celebration of string music, Telluride Bluegrass Festival has announced that it will implement a new stage devoted to electronic music when the festival returns to Colorado for its 45th year.

The move comes as many festivals across the nation are pushing toward eclectic lineups featuring an increasing amount of electronic acts, who draw a large crowd of summer festival-goers.

Just as Bonnaroo’s The Other Tent is now known as The Other, festival organizers Planet Bluegrass explain that what was once called The Workshop Stage will be now be known as The Drop. “It’s makes perfect sense because it’s a sound that we’ve already been presenting for over four decades, which is obvious if you remove the letters w-o-r-k-s-h from workshop and then add d-r to the beginning. Plus, there’s nothing more bluegrass than Marshmello.”
