The Rock and Roll Playhouse is a family concert series that provides a space for kids of all ages to rock out to live music, with themes ranging from Bob Marley to David Bowie to the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

In addition to its usual appointments at New York’s Brooklyn Bowl, Garcia’s at The Capitol Theatre, Industry City, and Philadelphia’s Ardmore Music Hall, the event will expand this spring to include performances in Chicago and Boston.

Rock and Roll Playhouse Boston will encompass three shows at The Sinclair. On Feb. 25, Grateful Dead for Kids will be geared toward the little Deadhead in your life, and feature Jeff Vetstein and Nick Swift of the local tribute band Bearly Dead. Phish for Kids will be on March 25, and include members of We Are Hydrogen. Finally, on April 15, Rock and Roll Playhouse Boston will present The Beatles for Kids.

Rock and Roll Playhouse Chicago will be timed perfectly with the upcoming Phil Lesh and Bob Weir duo performances at The Chicago Theatre. The morning of the duo’s Sunday March 11 performance, Rock and Roll Playhouse will pay tribute to the Grateful Dead with special guests Mike Hague and Paul Bolger from Chicago’s premier Grateful Dead cover band, Mr. Blotto.

In the past, special guests at the Rock and Roll Playhouse have included Phil Lesh, Tom Hamilton, Raina Mullen and Mike Greenfield.
