On Friday Jan. 12, the 2018 JAZZnJAM benefit will take place in Port Washington, NY, to raise awareness for prostate cancer and raise funds for the Coltrane Home, the site where John Coltrane lived and composed his groundbreaking record A Love Supreme.

14-year-old guitarist and former Bruce Hampton apprentice Brandon “Taz” Niederauer will join headliner Charles Neville and his Circus Mind band, as well as The Eric Wollman Trio and The Gary Smulyan Trio on the benefit’s bill.

Neville, who won a Grammy in 1989 for the Neville Brothers song “Healing Chant,” regularly cites Coltrane as an influence, as do many musicians in today’s musical landscape.
