The Bad Plus will kick off their annual New Year’s run of shows at New York’s Village Vanguard tomorrow, December 25. The trio—Reid Anderson (bass), Ethan Iverson (piano) and Dave King (drums)—-will sub for the The Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, who usually hold down Monday nights at the storied venue, for a special Christmas with The Bad Plus and will remain at the jazz joint through December 31.

The Bad Plus will play separately ticketed shows at 8:30pm and 10:30pm each night with the notable exception of New Year’s Eve, where they will offer one long show with sets at 9 and 11pm. On that night, light snacks and New Year’s Eve paraphernalia will be provided.

These shows will be the band’s last with Iverson. He will be replaced by Orrin Evans and the group plans to release a new record in 2018.
