Over the weekend, Punch Brothers mandolinist Chris Thile hosted the latest iteration of A Prairie Home Companion, and the episode featured a surprise cover of Michigan funk outfit Vulfpeck with unique instrumentation.

Thile, along with Prairie Home‘s music director Rich Dworsky, led a string-focused rendition of Vulfpeck’s “Fugue State” off their 2014 EP of the same name, featuring Chris Eldridge, Brittany Haas, Alan Hampton and Ted Poor. Watch a video of the cover above.

In other Prairie Home news, Thile will bring the radio program to New York City for three shows next month, with musical guests like Bon Iver, Spoon, Jeff Tweedy, Béla Fleck & Abigail Washburn and more.
