Last night, Tedeschi Trucks Band kicked off their annual fall run at New York’s Beacon Theatre. The night marked the return of founding TTB keyboardist Kofi Burbridge, who has been off the road since undergoing emergency open-heart surgery in June.

Near the end of the ensemble’s extended set, John Medeski—who was in the area for a performance with his new super-group Hudson at Jazz Lincoln Center 10 blocks away—also emerged for a take on “Get Out of My Life.” The Medeski Martin & Wood keyboardist remained onstage for an improv segment the group has dubbed “Hudson” after Medeski’s current project as well as a set-closing “Let Me Get By.” TTB also debuted a new New Orleans-style original last night, “Sweet Mama Janisse.”

Tedeschi Trucks Band will return to the Beacon Theater this evening while Hudson will perform once again at the Rose Theatre at Jazz Lincoln Center. Click here for an extended photo gallery from last night.
