Foo Fighters bandmates Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins sat for an interview with The Rock in New Zealand, the local radio station, and discussed a number of topics including the loss of Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell.

“Depression is a disease,” Grohl said of Cornell and recently deceased Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington. “The hardest part is when you lose a friend. And I just always immediately think of their families, bandmates.”

“Chris was such a beautiful guy,” he continued. “He was the sweetest person. He was so talented, he had so much to offer that it was a real shock to hear that he had gone.”

Hawkins chimed in, saying that not getting to hear Cornell make more music again is “my selfish version of it.” He continued, “I barely knew him, a little bit, but what I did know, he was super cool…We just loved his records.”
