Gregg Allman’s posthumous final album Southern Blood will arrive on September 8 and today the lyric video for the first single “My Only True Friend” was released.

The video features never before seen photos of Allman and his band both in the studio and on stage along with scenery from his home in Savannah, GA. Watch above.

In the recent issue of Relix, producer Don Was and Allman’s longtime musical director Scott Sharrard both detailed the making of the record, also mentioning the lead single.

“It was very difficult for him to perform ‘My Only True Friend’ live because of how personal it was at the time,” Sharrard said. “And to get it polished to the point where he was confident enough with it. I’m thankful that he got the lyrics and the changes and everything dialed into the point where he really loved the song before he passed away.”
