Earlier this week, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe stopped by San Rafael, CA’s Terrapin Crossroads for a performance that promised to feature venue proprietor Phil Lesh, and the band didn’t disappoint, welcoming the Grateful Dead bassist for a few tunes during their set.

As JamBase reports, Lesh joined Denson and company for three songs, including the Dead’s “Viola Lee Blues” and “Shakedown Street,” plus a nod to Denson’s other ongoing gig with a cover of The Rolling Stones’ “Live With Me.” KDTU shared video of the two Dead covers on their Facebook. Watch the collaborations below.

Denson has played with Lesh frequently in the past year with and without his band, first joining Phil Lesh & Friends last summer before collaborating with the bassist at Terrapin Crossroads with KDTU and joining Lesh’s Friends multiple times since.

Tiny Universe head north of the border today for a slot at The Phillips Backyard Weekender in Victoria, BC.
