Trey Anastasio kicked off his solo band tour last night with the first of two shows at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY. The show revisited many of the band’s live staples and brought in a brand new original tune while debuting a couple new covers for the group, including their interpretation of a just-released single from Portugal. The Man.

Anastasio and company opened up the night and the tour with “Sand,” a song that started with TAB and became a regular in the Phish repertoire. The guitarist recently spoke about his songs jumping from one band to another, among other things, in an in-depth interview. After their cover of George Harrison’s “What is Life,” TAB debuted their original “Everything’s Right.” The first set also featured a cover of Toots & the Maytals’ “Sweet and Dandy,” Bob Marley and the Wailers’ “Soul Rebel” and the band’s debut of Portugal. The Man’s “Feel It Still,” which that band only released last month.

Set two opened up with a run of TAB staples “Curlews Call” and “Night Speaks to a Woman,” along with “Liquid Time,” which hasn’t seen much play since 2010-11, before the covers continued with Crosby, Still & Nash’s “49 Bye Byes.” The set also included the Phish classic “Heavy Things,” “Windora Bug” and a closing cover duo of Gorillaz’ “Clint Eastwood” and Led Zeppelin’s “Dazed and Confused.” The night would later round out with TAB’s debut of the Irish-Scottish traditional tune “The Parting Glass” and “Push on Til the Day.”

Anastasio continues his tour tonight with a second Capitol Theatre show. Below, see the full setlist as it appears in our Box Scores section, along with videos from the night.
