Over the weekend, The String Cheese Incident’s Kyle Hollingsworth hosted his annual Hoppy Holidays event at Denver’s Fillmore Auditorium with music from JJ Grey & Mofro, along with Hollingsworth’s solo band and a unprecedented duet performance with fellow SCI member Bill Nershi.

Hollingsworth and Nershi kicked off their set with a couple String Cheese tunes in “One Step Closer” and “Lost” before covering Talking Heads’ “Heaven” and infusing some holiday spirit with Vince Guaraldi’s “Skating” from Peanuts. The duo then moved on to Stealers Wheel’s “Stuck in the Middle” and Waylon Jennings’ “Honky Tonk Heros” before a run of SCI’s “Don’t Say” and another holiday classic, “Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer.” They would then end the set with “Round the Wheel.”

Elsewhere during the event, Hollingsworth and his band also mixed in some String Cheese songs with covers, including a rendition of Michael Jackson’s “P.Y.T.” with Pimps of Joytime vocalist Kim Dawson. Watch a video of that collaboration below, and read more about Hollingsworth and Hoppy Holidays in our recent interview before the event.
