Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi’s cancer is in remission, he revealed to the Birmingham Mail.

“I am in remission and hopefully this situation will continue,” he said. “The chemotherapy and the follow-up treatment appear to have done the trick—but I’m aware that it could come back one day.”

Iommi also said that he will go for a blood test every six weeks and will also have interval checkups. “That’s something that I’ll have to live with for the rest of my life, looking for any warning signs that it might be rearing its ugly head again.”

In 2012, Iommi, 68 was diagnosed with early stages of lymphoma shortly before Black Sabbath began production on their comeback albujm 13.
