Deer Tick played the second and final night of their New Year’s run at Brooklyn Bowl last night with a packed set that welcomed the new year and featured a very special guest.

After playing several originals to kick off the night, including a intimate solo piano “Goodbye, Dear Friend” from frontman John McCauley, the band jumped into Duke Ellington’s “Don’t Get Around Much Anymore.” A few songs later, singer and wife of McCauley Vanessa Carlton joined her husband’s band for a run of “In Our Time,” a track from the group’s 2013 effort Negativity on which Carlton is featured.

Deer Tick amped up the energy with Bruce Springsteen’s “Hungry Heart” before playing two crowd favorites, “Christ Jesus” and “These Old Shoes.” The following cover of Ritchie Valens’ “La Bamba” proved to be the tune that carried the band and audience into 2016. The show then rounded out with a New Year’s-appropriate “Let’s All Go to the Bar.”

See the full setlist below. Deer Tick will play tomorrow night at Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel in Providence, RI.
