The Motet brought their Hometown Hustle to the Ogden Theatre in Denver, CO this past weekend for two nights of originals and a slew of covers from their recent 1977 Mixtape Halloween show.
Friday night featured guest vocalists Tanya Shylock, Ladamion Massey and Corey Frye for a night of originals, while Saturday brought back Shylock and Massey and saw Big Gigantic’s Dominic Lalli sit in for a few tunes as well.
The second set of the Saturday show threw it back to 1977 with funky favorites like Parliament’s “Flashlight,” The Meters’ “Funkify Your Life,” Steve Miller’s “Fly Like an Eagle” and a run of Marvin Gaye’s “Got to Give It Up” with Lalli.
The band brought back the encore from their Halloween show, coming back onstage with Billy Joel’s “Moving Out” and bringing Lalli back for the closer, Con Funk Shun’s “Ffun.” See the full setlist from the second night below.
