Following the Fare Thee Well run, Phil Lesh continued his celebration of the Grateful Dead’s 50th anniversary with a show at Terrapin Crossroads honoring the band’s year of 1978.
Teaming up with Stu Allen, Grahame Lesh, Rob Barraco, Ezra Lipp, Alex Koford and Elliot Peck, Lesh recreated the Dead’s July 7, 1978 show from Red Rocks Amphitheater, the band’s second of four shows on that run. Among the highlights were live Dead staples like “Bertha,” which opened the show, as well as “Dire Wolf,” “Ramble on Rose,” “Deal,” “Eyes of the World,” “Wharf Rat” and many others.
The encore is interesting as the band dug into a “Terrapin Station” as well as “One More Saturday Night” before delivering a special rendition of “Werewolves of London.”
Next up, Lesh will celebrate 1979 with a show at Terrapin on July 19 with a similar lineup of musicians.
