Allman Brothers Band drummer and co-founder Butch Trucks has commented on the rumor that bassist Oteil Burbridge was leaving The Allman Brothers Band. As previously reported, Gregg Allman recently told Rolling Stone that the bassist decided to step away from the ABB to work with Zac Brown Band. Burbridge went on record earlier today and assured fans he is not leaving the seminal jamband.

In a statement posted to Facebook earlier today Trucks said, “Ok. Apparently there was a quote from Gregg in Rolling Stone that Oteil is no longer playing with the ABB. I have no idea where that came from but it is absolute BS. Oteil was offered a gig with another band but he turned it down. He is as much the bass player with the Allman brothers today as he has ever been. Please don’t spread this crap. Does no one any good.”

The Allman Brothers Band also confirmed their annual residency at New York’s Beacon Theatre. Burbridge—who has played bass for the ABB since 1997—recently recorded an EP with Zac Brown Band. He also stepped away from Tedeschi Trucks Band for family reasons.
