Mikey Hart sat in with members of Rwanda’s first all-female drumming troupe following a screening at the Rafael Film Center on Sunday, December 8. The Grateful Dead drummer joined the quartet for a jam session after the screening of Sweet Dreams, a documentary about Ingoma Nshya (Women’s Initiative), a group of Rwandan women who formed the country’s first all-female drumming troupe and opened its first local ice cream shop in the aftermath of the country’s horrific 1994 genocide.
