Michael Franti will release his next studio album, All People on July 30 via Capitol Records. In advance of his eighth studio album—and second since breaking through into the mainstream—Franti has released the new song “I’m Alive (Life Sounds Like).” The fast-paced, rhythmic anthem marks Franti’s first new single in two years, and has moved into the Top 15 on the AAA charts in just three weeks. It was released digitally on April 30.
“I’m excited that ‘I’m Alive’ is finally hitting the streets and the ear drums of our fans,” Franti said in a statement. “The song is about being your own weird self with the person you love the most and being grateful for every last precious drop of life. It has rocked at our shows and it feels like we recorded a version that puts you right there in the first ten rows.”
All People follows 2010’s The Sound of Sunshine, which was the highest Billboard Top 200 Album Chart debut of Franti’s career. The album was nominated for a 2010 NAACP Image Award and its title track held the #1 spot on Billboard’s AAA Singles Chart for eight consecutive weeks. His previous album, All Rebel Rockers, hit the Top 40 on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart and yielded the certified double platinum smash “Say Hey (I Love You).”
“ All People is about the beauty of diversity, being your authentic self in a crazy world and the infinite power of love,” Franti added. “For everyone that’s been with us for days or decades, I really appreciate the love that you’ve given us. The music is for you and you inspire us.”
