On Friday, Leftover Salmon performed at Solana Beach, CA’s Belly Up. Del McCoury Band fiddler Jason Carter—who has performed with both Yonder Mountain String Band and Keller Williams in recent months—joined the group throughout their entire two-set show. Near the end of Salmon’s second set, Jordan-born percussionist Hani Naser emerged for “Whisperin’ Waters.” He returned to the stage with the rest of Salmon for a percussion-heavy encore that opened with a drum segment and moved into “Madame, “Aiko Aiko” and “Wake and Bake.”

A specialist in the oud and other hand percussion instruments, Naser has performed with the likes of Steve Miller, Jackson Browne and David Lindsay over the years. He has also sat in with Leftover Salmon several times.

Leftover Salmon will perform at Aspen, CO’s Belly Up on February 28.
