Phil Lesh returned to Terrapin Crossroads last night for his first show back at the venue following a well-deserved vacation. In addition to Lesh, last night’s Ramble featured Terrapin Crossroads regulars including Neal Casal (guitar, vocals), Mark Karan (guitar, vocals), Joe Russo (drums), Adam MacDougall (keyboards) and Jon Graboff (pedal steel, guitar, vocals).
Throughout the evening, the group ran through a selection of Grateful Dead classics, with various members of the group trading off on vocal duties. During the second set, Lesh and company dusted off The Rolling Stones’ “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,” along with The Beatles’ “Strawberry Fields Forever.” “China Cat Sunflower” featured a “Mountain Jam” segment, based on the melody of Donovan’s “There is a Mountain.” The show came to a close with the band members exchanging solos on a rendition of the Eddie Cochran classic “Summertime Blues.”
Phil and Friends return to Terrapin Crossroads for the summer’s final rambles tonight and tomorrow.
