Terrapin Crossroads’ grand opening continued last night. Once again Phil Lesh put together a new version of his Phil Lesh and Friends for the evening, including Furthur members Jeff Chimenti (keyboards), John Kadlecik (guitar, fiddle, vocals), Joe Russo (drums), Sunshine Becker (vocals) and Jeff Pehrson (vocals). In addition, the band featured guitarist Ross James and the bassist’s son Grahame Lesh. San Rafael, CA blues guitarist—and son of Journey guitarist Neil Schon—Miles Schon also joined in for the ensemble’s second set. Phil Lesh and Friends’ first set featured a few songs Furthur has yet to perform, including Bob Dylan’s “I Shall Be Released” and the Grateful Dead’s “If I Had The World To Give.” Later, the band tied part of its second set together by segueing from the Dead’s “The Wheel” into the Bob Dylan/Band classic “This Wheel’s On Fire” and, finally, “Wheel In the Sky.”

Phil & Friends will return to Terrpain Crossroads this evening. In addition to Lesh, the group’s lineup will feature Grahame Lesh, Jackie Greene, Jeff Chimenti, John Kadlecik and Joe Russo.
