Bob Weir joined Steve Kimock at Mill Valley, CA’s recently reopened Sweetwater Music Hall. Billed as Steve Kimock & Friends, the guitarist’s core lineup consisted of Zero bassist Bobby Vega, drummer Prairie Prince and RatDog/Furthur keyboardist Jeff Chimenti.
A handful of additional guests sat in at various points throughout the night as well. Partway through the group’s first set, Dave Eillis—who performed with Kimock earlier in the week as part of a RatDog reunion—emerged during “Thing One.” Soon after, Weir took the stage for a string of songs associated with the Grateful Dead, including “Good Morning Lil Schoolgirl,” “Dark Star,” “Scarlet Begonias” and “Goin’ Down The Road Feeling Bad.” After a short break, longtime Frank Zappa vocalist Ray White joined the ensemble and remained onstage for the rest of the set. Ellis also joined in for most of the group’s second set.
