The latest multitrack archival release from Widespread Panic will hit on December 13. Since the group has only one 2011 performance left on its tour docket, a New Year’s Eve gig, it is fitting that this recording also highlights a December 31 show. History Lesson New Year’s 1997 presents the band at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, on December 31, 1997. The name of the release comes from a sequence during the first set in which the group “presents a ‘history lesson’ on the band’s formation, sequentially introducing each band member on a song that uniquely represented the time frame at which he joined the band.”
