Saturday turned out to be quite a busy day for the members of Umphrey’s McGee. In the afternoon, the band played an in-store set at Milwaukee, WI’s The Exclusive Company. Later that night, the group headlined a full two-set show at Milwaukee, WI’s The Eagles Ballroom and then three members of Umphrey’s McGee played a late night show at the nearby The Rave Bar. Billed as Brendan Bayliss (guitar) and Joel Cummins (keyboards) with Andy Farag (percussion), the rare trio performance featured a mix of covers and material from the Umphrey’s McGee catalog. The set opened with a take on the Umphrey’s classic “In The Kitchen” that segued into “Hajimemashite” The trio then busted into “FF” before moving into “Wellwishers” and then returning to “In the Kitchen.” After a cover of Paul Simon’s “50 Ways to Leave Your Lover,” Umphrey’s McGee guitarist Jake Cinninger emerged to sing and play percussion on “Susannah,” a song from Bayliss’ 30db project with Jeff Austin. Cinninger returned later in the set to play keyboards alongside Cummins on “The Triple Wide.”
