Smithsonian Folkways have released “The Mickey Hart Collection.” a 25-album series celebrating the Grateful Dead drummer’s various world music side projects. Six of the 25 albums form the “Endangered Music Project,” a collaboration between Hart and the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress, which presents recordings from musical traditions at risk.

In celebration of the collection’s release, Hart has made new songs available for free download at mickeyhart.net/download. The sampler highlights Hart’s reach into a variety of ethic styles, including Egyptian, Jewish and South American music.
