George Porter Jr.’s busy year will get even busier this fall. Porter and his band The Runnin Pardners will release their first album in a number of years on October 1. The album’s working title is You Can’t Beat the Funk. Porter revealed the info via an online video, which can be viewed above. The bassist will play his final Trio show until November at New Orleans’ Maple Leaf this Thursday, while The Runnin Pardners will perform at Chattanooga, TN’s Southern Brewers Festival on Saturday night. Porter and the rest of the original Meters will appear on the cover of the September issue of Relix.
