Eccentric funk icon Sly Stone will release I’m Back! Family & Friends, his first new album since 1982, on August 16, 2011 via Cleopatra Records. The album will feature updated versions of Stone hits like “Everyday People,” “Family Affair” “Dance to the Music” and “Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)” with the help of guests like Doors keyboardist Ray Manzarek, Bootsy Collins, Johnny Winter, Jeff Beck, Ann Wilson and more. I’m Back! Family & Friends will also include three previously unreleased tracks, including Stone’s take on the traditional “His Eye Is On The Sparrow.” The CD version also adds three club mixes. The album was produced by Jurgen Engler, Chris Leitz and Sly Stone. Stone recently returned to the stage with mixed results.
