To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack—the unexpectedly successful roots music phenomenon produced by T Bone Burnett that shot to number one on the Billboard Top 200 and country charts—Universal Music will release an expanded two CD deluxe edition of the soundtrack on August 16, 2011. The deluxe edition includes a 17-track bonus disc that features some of the artists that appeared on the original album (John Hartford, Norman Blake, the Fairfield Four, the Cox Family and the Peasall Sisters), as well as some who did not (Colin Linden, Alan O’Bryant, Ed Lewis and Van Dyke Parks). All except two of the 17 bonus tracks did not appear in the movie. The expanded soundtrack will be the first time this selection of treasured bluegrass, roots and Americana recordings will be available on disc. O Brother, Where Art Thou? is credited with helping bring roots and bluegrass music back to the mainstream.
