Denver, CO’s Quixotes hosted Steve Kimock & Friends for three shows this past weekend. The guitarist’s steady band for the weekend consisted of longtime collaborator Bobby Vega on bass, Kyle Hollingsworth on keys and Wally Ingram on drums. In addition, the second night of the run featured some additional special guests. Former vocalist and guitarist of the late 90’s Kimock band KVHW Ray White (Frank Zappa) opened the show with his Ray White Band featuring Fareed Haque, and fans were treated to a reunion of sorts when White joined Kimock and Vega for a set closing “5B4Funk” and “Spring Water.” White returned during the second set for “Mr. Potato Head” and remained onstage for the rest of the evening. Fareed Haque also played for much of the second set, while Zero vocalist/guitarist Arnie Green sat in for “Stir It Up” which opened the set. Steve Kimock & Friends will perform at Napa, CA’s Uptown Theatre on July 14.
