
Noted groove guitarist Melvin Sparks passed away on March 15. On April 26, numerous musicians will come together to celebrate his life at New York’s historic Cotton Club. Admission is $25 and the memorial is open to the public. Artists scheduled to perform include: Lou Donaldson, Rodney Jones, Greg Bandy, Reuben Wilson, Stanley Banks, Nate Lucas, Bill Saxon, Seleno Clark Solomon Hicks, Jesse Hameen II, Phil Young, Steve Depra, Jeff Smith, Beau SasserBill Carbon, Ron Jackson, Bob Cunningham, Kris Jenson, George Papa George, Andrew Beals, Vincent Ector, Patience Higgins, Ruth Brisbane and Nikki Armstrong. Additional acts will be added to the memorial’s lineup in the coming weeks. The show will run from 6-9 PM.
