Steve Kimock returned to New York’s Sullivan Hall last night for the second show of his three-week residency. The guitarist performed with a first time band consisting of keyboardist Marco Benevento, Slip bassist Marc Friedman and Lettuce/Pretty Lights/Break Science drummer Adam Deitch. Partway through the show, Kimock’s son John Morgan sat in for Deitch on an instrumental cover of the 1920s pop song “Happy Days are Here Again.” In a Relix interview, John Morgan Kimock cited the Benevento/Russo Duo as a primary influence on his music. The rest of the night consisted of freeform jams that referenced several songs, including Benevento’s “Real Morning Party.”

Kimock’s Sullivan Hall run will conclude on Wednesday. Please click here to watch the guitarist’s recent performance at the Relix/Jambands.com offices.
