Earlier this month, Atlanta’s Jango Monkey relased Magic Whoosh their new album, and in conjunction, they have launched a site where fans can stream the recording and “name their own price” for a digital download of the complete disc. Magic Whoosh was recorded and mastered by Rodney Mills (Pearl Jam, Gregg Allman, REM, Drive-By Truckers) and it has the full range of the band’s eclectic sound on full display – prog rock, folk rock and occasional extended instrumental sections. It takes the band into new territory while still sharing some of the sound of the band’s 2007 debut (which charted at #6 on Jambands radio charts).

Front man Rob Plantner says, “We’ve been working on this record for almost 2 years, and feel pretty strongly that the band is firing on all cylinders right now. We are calling 2011 the Year of the Monkey. We’re doing the “name your own price” deal and the free listen with the hope that those looking for something different will go ahead and take that listen.”
