Gov’t Mule opened its New Year’s Run last night at Washington, DC’s Warner Theatre. Near the end of the group’s set, saxophonist—and Mid-Atlantic resident—Ron Holloway emerged for “I’d Rather Go Blind” and “Soulshine.” Holloway returned during the band’s second set for a jam on the Grateful Dead’s “The Other One” that featured lyrics from the Rolling Stones’ “Gimme Shelter.” Gov’t Mule will close 2010 with shows at New York’s Beacon Theater on December 30 and 31. With the exception of a few select shows, the group will spend most of 2011 off the road.
