Bitches Brew, the Miles Davis album that expanded on the electric approach that Davis began on In a Silent Way, taking the music into heavier rock realms, celebrated its 40th birthday in 2010. To commemorate this occasion, a collection of musicians came together at the Prospect Park Bandshell in Brooklyn, NY for a Celebrate Brookyln! event on June 19. This was performance followed by appearances at the Montreal Jazz Festival, New Mexico Jazz Festival and San Francisco Jazz Festival. Bitches Brew Revisited will return in 2011, with a confirmed date in Paris on February 4. The core players feature: Graham Haynes, Marco Benevento, Cindy Blackman, Melvin Gibbs, DJ Logic, Vernon Reid, Antoine Roney and Adam Rudolph. The “extended family” includes: James Hurt, JT Lewis, Lonnie Plaxico, James Blood Ulmer and Jean Paul Bourelly. Additional 2011 performances are certainly possible as well.
