Mike Watt is the driving force behind the Manhattan Project. The bassist—who is best known for his work with Minutemen, Firehose and the Stooges—wrote a series of new songs for the band, which he describes as “funky punk-jazz.” In addition to Watt, the band features Nels Cline (Wilco), Yuka Honda (Cibo Matto, If By Yes) and Dougie Bowne (Lounge Lizards). Their collaboration can be heard on the new album Floored By Four. Watt will perform with Steve Perkins and Peter Distefano tomorrow at Santa Monica, CA’s Central Aid And Social Pleasure Club as Hellride. The musicians will perform music described as “Stooges in a John Coltrane way”
