The Voodoo Experience kicks off today in New Orleans. The event originated in 1999 and will remain in City Park through 2019. The festival’s promoters signed an agreement this week with Park officials to keep the Voodoo Experience at the 1300 acre locale. As for this year’s event, My Morning Jacket, Muse, MGMT, Ozzy Osbourne, Drake, Metric, Hot Chip, Interpol, Paul van Dyk, Toubab Krewe, Deadmau5, Street Sweeper Social Club, Paul Oakenfold, Jakob Dylan and Three Legs, Ferry Corsten, Buckwheat Zydeco and Florence And The Machine are all on the bill. In addition there is a New Orleans focus with such acts as: Galactic, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, Big Sam’s Funky Nation, Rebirth Brass Band, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Stanton Moore Trio with Anders Osborne and Robert Walter, Voice of the Wetland All Stars, Cyril Neville, Big Chief Bourdeaux, Johnny Vidacovich, Theresa Andersson, Kermit Ruffins, George Porter, Jr. & Runnin’ Pardners, Treme Brass Band with Uncle Lionel Batiste and Rotary Downs.
