Jackie Greene’s summer tour with Gov’t Mule came to a close last night at Des Moines, IA’s Walnut St. Bridge. Warren Haynes and Greene opened Gov’t Mule’s second set with a stripped down version of “The Real Thing.” Later in the set, Greene’s guitiarist Nathan Dale emerged for “32/20 Blues.” Gov’t Mule invited Greene out one final time during its encore for a take on the Grateful Dead’s “Loser” and the entire Jackie Greene Band for a cover of the Beatles’ “Don’t Let Me Down.”

The singer/songwriter sat in with Gov’t Mule almost every night during the summer tour, including the past few nights. Thursday at Columbus, OH’s LC Pavilion, Greene appeared on “To Love Somebody” and Bob Seger’s “Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man.” He took the stage during Gov’t Mule’s second set Friday night at Indianapolis, IN’s on Humble Pie’s “30 Days In The Hole” and returned later for David Crosby’s “Almost Cut My Hair” and Neil Young’s “Ohio.” Saturday night’s show at Minneapolis, MN’s Cabooze Plaza featured Greene on Elmore James’ “It Hurts Me Too” and the Rolling Stones’ “Monkey Man.”

Gov’t Mule and the Avett Brothers will share the stage at Park City, UT’s Deer Valley Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheatre on September 2.
