Phish’s first visit to Telluride in 1988
Phish closed out its first run of shows in Telluride, CO since 1991 last night. The evening opened with “The Squirming Coil,” which has not started a show since 1998. The Vermont Quartet’s first set also featured meaty covers of “Timber (Jerry),” “Walk Away” and “Roses are Free,” as well as the group’s first take on Trey Anastasio’s “Let Me Lie” since last year.
The band’s second set opened with “Party Time” and included a Mike’s Groove sequence that sandwiched Talking Heads’ “Crosseyed and Painless” in-between “Mike’s Song” and “I am Hydrogen.” The set also featured “Destiny Unbound,” a song Phish shelved shortly after its last Telluride visit until 2003.
