The Bad Plus will release its first album of all original material on September 14. Never Stop is the band’s eighth album and a return to the jazz trio’s instrumental roots.

“We approached the recording of this album more like a jazz record from the ’50s or ’60s,” drummer David King said in a statement. “To eliminate studio separation as much as possible, we set up in the same room. It created a really free atmosphere, as if we were playing a show.”

The album celebrates the group’s 10th anniversary. The trio has made a name for itself reworking rock and pop songs as jazz instrumentals in that time.
