To commemorate next weekend’s Furthur Festival, we are streaming a version of “Uncle John’s Band” that the group performed on March 3, 2010 at Chicago’s Auditorium Theatre- Click here to listen. The complete performance, which opens with “Playing In The Band” and also includes notable versions of such Grateful Dead staples as: “Eyes of The World,” “Scarlet Begonias” > “Fire on the Mountain,” and “St. Stephen” > “The Eleven,” is available at the group’s digital downloads site.

As for Furthur Fest, it will take place in Angels Camp, CA from May 28-30. Furthur will perform a public soundcheck on Friday night and then over the course of the weekend, deliver six of the Grateful Dead’s most popular albums in their entirety. On Saturday the band will revisit American Beauty (Set I), Workingman’s Dead (Set II) and Anthem of the Sun (Set III), and on Sunday Furthur will reinterpret Blues for Allah (Set I), Aoxomoxoa (Set II) and Terrapin Station (Set III).

Other Furthur Festival performers include Electric Hot Tuna, Galactic, RatDog’s Mark Karan & Jemimah Puddleduck, Jackie Greene, The Mother Hips, Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams, honeymoon, Carney, Maiden Lane, Blue Light River, The Waybacks and Common Rotation with Dan Bern. In addition, the group promises that Furthur’s core Grateful Dead members “will be jamming on several stages with some of their friends.”

Looking ahead, Furthur will kick off its summer tour on June 25 at the Highland Bowl Amphitheater in Rochester, NY.
