On Thursday night at Teaneck, NJ’s Mexicali Live, Kung Fu welcomed a number of guest artists to the stage. Kung Fu, a band which consists of the Breakfast’s Tim Palmieri and Adrian Tramontano along with Todd Stoops (RAQ), Kris Jensen (Dickie Betts, Jaimoe) and Dave Livolsi (Melvin Sparks, John Scofield), has been picking up gigs when schedules permit. On Thursday the group opened its performance with Wyllys Dj Wade Ellis and Matisyahu’s keyboard player Rob Marscher for some improv that segued into Billy Cobham’s “Stratus.” Later on, Jen Hartswick (Trey Anastasio Band) joined Kung Fu for the group’s “K-Jambalia,” follwed by Cobham’s “Red Baron” and Steely Dan’s “Green Earrings” before charging into Herbie Hancock’s “Actual Proof.”
