The Contribution celebrated the release of its new CD, Which Way World this past Saturday at San Francisco’s Great American Music Hall. The quintet consists of Railroad Earth’s Tim Carbone and String Cheese Incident’s Keith Mosley and Jason Hann along with Phil Ferlino and Jeff Miller of New Monsoon. On this night, however they drew in a number of guest players including vocalist Kate Gaffney (who opened the night with her group), Bill Evans (banjo), Alissa Rose (violin), James Nash (acoustic guitar) and Pete Grant (pedal steel) and Sheryl Renee (vocals). The two sets focused on songs from the new disc but also included covers from such artists as Led Zeppelin (“The Song Remains the Same”), Marvin Gaye (“Let’s Get It On”), Santana (“Let the Children Play”), Jesse Stone (“Don’t Let Go”), and Paul McCartney (“Live and Let Die”). At present the Contribution has no upcoming dates.
