The Allman Brothers Band invited a number of guests onstage last night at New York’s United Palace Theater. Though both of the Allman Brothers Band’s previous guests this run—Susan Tedeschi and Bruce Katz—had previously toured with the veteran ensemble, last night’s guest performers were further removed. At the start of the group’s first set, guitarist James Blood Ulmer emerged for a cover of Howlin’ Wolf’s “I Asked For Water (She Gave Me Gasoline).” Later in the set, Soulive guitarist Eric Krasno appeared on Little Milton’s “That’s What Love Will Make You Do,” a song Warren Haynes only recently brought to the Allman Brothers Band’s repertoire from Gov’t Mule’s canon. Krasno returned at the end of the night with Dark Star Orchestra keyboardist Rob Barraco for “Southbound.” Allman Brothers Band members Haynes, Derek Trucks and Oteil Burbridge all sat in with Soulive last week at Brooklyn, NY’s Brooklyn Bowl.
