While at home between tours, Marco Benevento occasionally plays free and unannounced shows at Brooklyn, NY’s tiny Bar 4. Last night, the keyboardist appeared at the club, playing a set that included covers of My Morning Jacket, Amy Winehouse, Led Zeppelin and the Beatles, among others. Benevento also played “Weird Sisters” as a tribute to Mark Linkous, who killed himself over the weekend, and closed the night with a cover of George Harrison’s “Let it Roll.” Ween’s Dave Dreiwitz played standup bass and horn with Benevento throughout last night’s show, while Slip bassist Marc Friedman sat in with Benevento at Bar 4 the previous Monday. Benevento will perform with Soulive this Friday at New York’s Brooklyn Bowl.
