The new Derek Trucks & Susan Tedeschi Band has been confirmed to open a June date for Jeff Beck. The fledgling group will appear at Boston’s Bank Of America Pavilion on June 3, marking the first time that either Trucks or Tedeschi have performed with the legendary guitarist. Given the venue’s locale, it is quite possible that Massachusetts resident and Baseball Hall of Fame journalist Peter Gammons will be on hand. Over the weekend, Gammons filed a report from spring training outlining the connection between Derek and his great uncle Virgil Trucks, who threw two no-hitters during the 1952 season while pitching for the Detroit Tigers.

The official debut of the Derek Trucks & Susan Tedeschi Band is set for April 1 at the Savannah Music Festival.
