Another artist previously featured on Jambands.com has made his way onto American Idol. Last night, Soulajar singer Jim Ranger performed the original tune “Drive” on the popular talent show. The song is featured on both Soulajar’s self-titled EP and the band’s upcoming album Pipe Dream. Ranger made it through the show and will continue on to American Idol‘s Hollywood week. The 27-year-old singer is a Music Minister at his Bakersfield, CA church and “comes from a very musical family.” Ranger has been a member of Soulajar since 2006 and helped the band win a Starbucks/Hear Music SoCal Music Award in 2007. Several artists with roots in the jamband world have appeared on American Idol, most notable Taylor Hicks, Bo Bice and Brenna Gethers, the latter of whom joined the Bomb Squad.
