Slip guitarist Brad Barr will appear on the new album by the indie group Plants and Animals. Barr, who lives near the band in Montreal, plays guitar on one of the album’s tracks. Arcade Fire’s horn section also contribute to the project. Plants and Animals is comprised of Warren C. Spicer, Matthew “the Woodman” Woodley and Nicolas Basque. The group released its breakthrough recording Parc Avenue in 2008 and has spent the last few years playing with the likes of The National and Gnarls Barkley, among others.

The group’s sophomore album La La Land is scheduled for release on April 20 via Secret City records. The album was recorded at the band’s home-base studio in Montreal, The Treatment Room, and at Studio La Frette outside Paris—a brokedown old mansion filled with vintage gear and a killer board in the cellar. The album’s first track “Tom Cruz,” is available to stream and download now at Secret City.
